Foreign Student Registration for New International Students Available at the “Study Busan Hub”

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Park Heong-joon, announced that starting March 20, it is providing a “group fingerprint registration” service for international students in cooperation with the Busan Immigration Office at the “Busan Foreign Student Integrated Support Hub (Study Busan Hub, hereinafter referred to as the Integrated Support Hub),” located on the second floor of the National Pension Service Busan building in Yeonje-gu.

The city opened the Integrated Support Hub on February 10 and began consultation services, followed by the launch of Korean language education programs starting in March.

Location: 2nd Floor, National Pension Service, 1000 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan Metropolitan City (Yeonsan-dong)
Facilities: Six consultation zones, lounge, two classrooms, three offices (total area of 380㎡)
Operating institutions: Silla University (lead institution), Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, and Busan Global City Foundation (consortium)
Partner institutions: Busan Rise Innovation Institute and 20 participating universities
Main functions: One-stop consultation (daily life, medical, financial, etc.), education and cultural programs, employment and startup support

This marks the first time that the Busan Immigration Office, in collaboration with a local government, is providing fingerprint registration services for foreign registration in an off-campus external location.

With the introduction of this group registration service at the Integrated Support Hub, the inconvenience of having to visit the immigration office in Jung-gu for foreign registration has been eliminated. International students from distant institutions such as Pusan National University, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, and Busan Women’s College can now complete registration procedures quickly and conveniently without waiting times.

The Busan Immigration Office also plans to operate a “mobile immigration service,” visiting universities directly when necessary. On March 26, it is scheduled to provide on-site fingerprint registration services for approximately 200 international students at Dong-Eui University.

In addition to fingerprint registration, the Integrated Support Hub will offer various support programs tailored to international students, including financial consulting, health education, and Korean culture mentoring.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to use the hub as a central platform to connect universities and related institutions, host large-scale regional job fairs and community festivals linked to major local events, and provide comprehensive support to help international students adapt to the local community and transition from studying to long-term settlement through employment support.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Foreign registration and visa services are essential for international students but difficult to handle individually,” adding, “We will continue to expand practical support initiatives through close cooperation with the Busan Immigration Office to provide meaningful assistance to international students.”
