Busan Metropolitan City Selects 10 High-Growth Startups as “Bunicorns” for Intensive Support

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (23rd) that it has selected 10 high-growth, promising companies with global competitiveness as final beneficiaries of the “2026 Bunicorn Support Program,” aimed at revitalizing the local startup ecosystem.

The selected companies are Newrizon Co., Ltd. (Lee Seung-wook), LiveX Co., Ltd. (Song Jeong-ung), Resol Co., Ltd. (Lee Seung-woo), Softsquared Co., Ltd. (Lee Ha-neul), Slash B Slash Co., Ltd. (Jeong Yong-chae), Icooka Co., Ltd. (Bang Nam-jin), JimCarry Co., Ltd. (Son Jin-hyeon), Christine Company Co., Ltd. (Lee Min-bong), TQure Co., Ltd. (Kang Hyun-wook), and Marine Drone Technology Co., Ltd. (Hwang Ui-cheol). The city plans to provide tailored, practical support to help these companies grow into global leaders.

“Bunicorn,” a combination of Busan and Unicorn, is a newly introduced Busan-style startup support brand designed to identify high-growth technology startups with proven potential and intensively foster them into unicorn companies representing the city.

Moving away from the previous dispersed support model targeting a large number of companies, the city has restructured its system into a “scale-up-centered support framework,” selecting promising companies with high potential for entering rapid growth trajectories and concentrating resources on them. Through this approach, Busan Metropolitan City aims to help local startups overcome growth stagnation and establish a foundation for sustainable growth.

Selected companies will receive a “Bunicorn Company” certificate and plaque, along with a base commercialization fund of KRW 50 million per company.

Additionally, the top three companies selected through a separate IR evaluation will receive an extra KRW 50 million each, allowing for intensive support of up to KRW 100 million per company.

Furthermore, advanced programs to support revenue growth and market expansion will be provided, including customized close management based on company needs, preferential access to internal and external programs, support for participation in global exhibitions, and investor matching.

Meanwhile, Busan Metropolitan City will hold the “2026 Bunicorn Fostering and Support Program Integrated Launch Ceremony (B-Startup Day)” on April 1 at Busan Eurasia Platform. The event will share the vision of Busan’s startup policies with the selected companies and officially announce the full-scale implementation of the program.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Strategic, concentrated support for companies with high growth potential will become a key driving force for Busan’s future economy,” adding, “We will do our utmost to build a systematic growth ladder so that Bunicorn companies can expand beyond the region and grow into global unicorn companies.”
