Busan Metropolitan City to Hold Resident Briefing on Phase 2 Project for Redevelopment of Aging Planned Cities

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold a resident briefing on the Phase 2 project for redevelopment of aging planned cities on March 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Hanmadang Hall of the Sasang-gu Office, together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and redevelopment support organizations.

Participating in the briefing will be Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Aging Planned City Redevelopment Support Organizations, including the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, Korea Real Estate Board, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation, and Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation.

At the briefing, Busan Metropolitan City and participating organizations will provide residents of Dadae, Mandeok, Mora, and Gaegum–Danggam—areas designated as Phase 2 redevelopment zones—with information on ▲the concept and advantages of the aging planned city redevelopment project ▲redevelopment procedures and verification of estimated resident contributions ▲progress and implications of first-generation new town redevelopment projects ▲financial support measures for redevelopment projects ▲guidance on electronic voting ▲Phase 2 zone boundaries.

In addition, Busan Metropolitan City plans to continue active communication with residents ahead of the public inspection of the Phase 2 basic plan (draft) for the redevelopment of aging planned cities scheduled for April.

The city also plans to organize briefing sessions by zone in the future and will operate a “Mobile Future City Support Center” on an ongoing basis to respond to residents’ inquiries.

To increase resident participation in the briefing, the city will actively promote the event in cooperation with district offices.

The city will produce posters and distribute them to apartment complexes and other residential buildings in the four target districts (Saha, Buk, Sasang, and Busanjin). District offices will also be requested to promote the briefing so that residents of the target areas and any interested citizens can participate.

Meanwhile, the Phase 1 basic redevelopment plan for aging planned cities (Hwamyeong–Geumgok, Haeundae 1 and 2) is expected to be officially announced in the first half of the year after completing the approval process through review by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Bae Seong-taek, Director General of the Housing and Architecture Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said, “Based on our experience with the earlier Phase 1 projects in Hwamyeong–Geumgok and Haeundae 1 and 2, we will actively promote the initiative and communicate closely with local residents.” He added, “We will use this resident briefing as the starting point for the Phase 2 project and proceed step by step to ensure that the project is carried out smoothly without setbacks.”
