Busan Metropolitan City to Host Civic Empathy Talk Show “Stories in Search of Busan” with Author Cho Seung-yeon

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the civic empathy talk show “Stories in Search of Busan” on March 20 at 18:00 at Hall 5A (3rd floor), Exhibition Center II of BEXCO, inviting citizens to participate. The event aims to broaden public empathy toward the municipal administration of the eighth popularly elected administration and to gather diverse citizen perspectives on the future of Busan.

The talk show will serve as a platform for communication with citizens, centered on the two pillars of a “City for Citizens’ Happiness” and a “Global Hub City.”

The program will be conducted in three parts: a presentation of policy beneficiary case stories, a special lecture by an invited speaker, and a talk show featuring Mayor Park Heong-joon and citizen panelists.

Through these sessions, the event will examine how major policies function in the daily lives of citizens and broaden shared understanding of Busan’s role and potential in the global arena.

In particular, author and broadcaster Cho Seung-yeon will deliver a special lecture titled “The Real Reasons Busan Matters,” highlighting Busan’s significance and standing in the world.

The lecture will explore the historical meaning of port competition and maritime route dominance and share with citizens the direction and potential for Busan to rise as a global logistics hub.

It will also explain, from a citizen-oriented perspective, the strategies for Busan to become a city connected to the world and the core elements of urban competitiveness, thereby enhancing understanding of Busan’s present and future vision.

In the talk show that follows, Cho Seung-yeon, citizen panelists, and Mayor Park Heong-joon will exchange views on Busan’s future vision and the role of citizens.

Beginning with the question “What defines Busan’s unique identity?”, the discussion will continue across various topics including Busan’s future and the role of its citizens.

Through this approach, the city aims to move beyond one-way policy communication and instead gather voices from diverse sectors of society while jointly shaping Busan’s future blueprint with its citizens.
