Busan Metropolitan City’s Galmaetgil Completion Certification Relaunches with Mayor-Issued Certificates at the Galmaetgil Tour Lounge

□ Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that, starting March 3, Galmaetgil completion certificates will be issued in the name of the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, and the functions of the existing completion certification center will be integrated and operated at the Galmaetgil Tour Lounge at Busan Station.

□ This integrated operation is being implemented to enhance accessibility and convenience by providing one-stop guidance and certification services for Galmaetgil walkers, and to establish a stable service delivery system through functional integration.

□ By issuing completion certificates in the mayor’s name, the initiative is expected to help enhance the value of the Galmaetgil brand and further strengthen external trust.

□ The Busan Metropolitan City Galmaetgil Information and Completion Certification Center will carry out the following tasks to improve user convenience and ensure stable operation of the completion certification program:

□ It will provide comprehensive guidance on Galmaetgil routes; offer directions and on-site information; issue and present completion certificates; manage the finisher database (DB); provide guidance and consultations for finishers; and perform other related duties.

□ With the integrated operation, the City plans to strengthen on-site guidance functions so that users can more easily obtain Galmaetgil information and receive completion certification.

□ At the Galmaetgil Tour Lounge at Busan Station, the center will also respond to on-site inquiries, including route consultations, directions, and assistance with completing application forms for completion certification.

□ In addition, the City will produce and distribute a manual to standardize completion certification criteria so that residents and visitors can use the services without confusion.

□ Those who complete all nine Galmaetgil routes, totaling 278.8 kilometers (km), will receive a completion certificate, a medal, a badge, and a commemorative gift, and their names will be posted in the Hall of Honor for finishers on the Galmaetgil website.

□ In addition, to commemorate the relocation of the completion certification center and the first issuance of mayor-issued completion certificates, the City plans to hold a walking event with approximately 700 residents at North Port Waterfront Park on March 7.

□ The event will consist of a completion certificate presentation ceremony and a walking program, with the aim of honoring finishers while also encouraging broad public participation.

□ In line with the 700-ri theme of the Galmaetgil, 700 participants will be recruited. Applications will be accepted from February 23 through March 2 via the Galmaetgil website (https://busan.go.kr/galmaetgil/index) or the QR code on the promotional poster. □ The walking route will run approximately 4 kilometers (km) from North Port Waterfront Park, which is currently under review as an additional Galmaetgil route, to Yurarigwangjang Square in Nampo-dong, and is expected to take about 1 hour and 20 minutes. A small commemorative gift will be provided to participants on the day, and the City will make every effort to ensure the event is conducted safely.

□ Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “Issuing Galmaetgil completion certificates anew in the name of the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City is not merely a change in formality, but an important turning point that further enhances the symbolism and official credibility of the Galmaetgil,” adding, “It carries the meaning that the City will officially honor and record the challenge of each and every finisher.”

□ He continued, “By integrating these functions at the tour lounge at Busan Station and providing one-stop guidance and certification services, we will significantly improve user convenience, and we will continue to advance the walking-travel infrastructure as well.”
