Busan Metropolitan City Opens Call for Organizing Partner for “The 3rd Emerging Artists Art Show”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will recruit a subsidy operator to manage “BUSAN, CONNECTED: The 3rd Emerging Artists Art Show” from February 13 to 27.

Launched in 2024, the “Busan Connected Emerging Artists Art Show” serves as a gateway for local young artists who face difficulties entering the existing art market. By enabling artist-led direct sales, the event provides practical benefits and is scheduled to take place this coming October.

Each year, 10 teams selected through an open call are offered opportunities for curated exhibitions and collector matching. Among them, one team is additionally supported with a follow-up exhibition, thereby fostering the stable entry of emerging artists into the market and supporting their sustained growth.

This year, the scale of the subsidy for “The 3rd Emerging Artists Art Show” is KRW 100 million. Corporations or organizations based in Busan Metropolitan City that conduct cultural and arts-related projects are eligible to apply.

Applications are accepted exclusively online through the Local Subsidy Management System (Botaem e). Detailed information is available on the Notice section of the Busan Metropolitan City website (https://www.busan.go.kr/nbgosi) or by contacting the Cultural Arts Division at 051-888-5045.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to comprehensively evaluate applicant organizations based on criteria including organizational eligibility and the appropriateness of the project plan and budget, and will select the organization best suited to carry out the event in a substantive and effective manner. The final results will be announced in early May following deliberation by the Local Subsidy Management Committee between March and April.

Jo Yu-jang, Director General of the Culture Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “The Emerging Artists Art Show is a meaningful event that discovers promising emerging artists through collaboration with professional planners and supports them in continuing their creative activities.” He added, “We look forward to strong interest and participation from capable organizations that can faithfully carry out the purpose of the event.”
