Busan Metropolitan City Appoints 4th Audit Committee Members to Strengthen Foundations for Citizen Safety and Fair Administration

Busan Metropolitan City announced that it has newly appointed the 4th members of the Busan Metropolitan City Audit Committee.

The Busan Metropolitan City Audit Committee is a deliberative body directly under the Mayor. It deliberates and resolves matters including the City’s audit policies and major audit plans, requests for disciplinary actions, reexamination of dispositions, exemption for proactive administration, and commendations for meritorious audit service.

The newly appointed 4th Audit Committee consists of a total of six members, comprising four attorneys, one tax accountant, and one certified public accountant—experts with specialized knowledge in their respective fields.

Their term of office runs from January 21, 2026 to January 20, 2028.

The 4th committee members include a tax accountant with extensive practical experience in audit and investigation at the National Tax Service; a managing partner attorney who formerly served as a deputy chief prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office; and a former legal team leader at the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation, a national public institution. Together, they bring balanced expertise across auditing, legal affairs, and accounting.

In particular, one of the members previously served as the prosecutor in charge of the investigation into the so-called “Busan roundhouse kick assault case,” which drew significant public attention. This member is expected to contribute a high level of understanding and insight into citizen safety and fair administration to the operation of the Audit Committee.

Meanwhile, the appointment ceremony for the 4th Audit Committee members was held on the morning of the 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the City Hall reception room, presided over by Mayor Park.

The event was attended by Mayor Park, the Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs, and the six appointed committee members, and included the presentation of letters of appointment, a welcoming conversation, and a commemorative photo session.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “As citizens who have consistently contributed to the City’s development in your respective positions, I ask that you generously share your experience and insight so that the administration of Busan Metropolitan City can operate more transparently and fairly based on your high level of expertise and extensive experience.”
