Busan Launches Pilot Operation of “Busan Safety ON,” an Integrated Disaster Information Platform Website

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the city has launched and will operate an integrated website, “Busan Safety ON,” to provide a comprehensive range of disaster and safety information closely related to citizens’ daily lives in one place.

This website is designed to support citizens in quickly and easily checking the information they need and responding effectively in disaster situations by integrating disaster and safety information that had previously been dispersed across multiple departments and agencies into a single platform.

“Busan Safety ON” is a comprehensive urban safety service that integrates and provides citizens with disaster and safety information that had been scattered across various agencies and systems. It consists of six categories—urban flooding, earthquakes/seismic reinforcement, nuclear safety, ground subsidence/landslides, heat waves/cold waves, and shelters—and is designed so that citizens can view key information for each category at a glance.

In the Urban Flooding category, the website provides linked information such as river water levels, wind direction and speed, tidal levels, and rainfall data from the Korea Meteorological Administration, enabling citizens to intuitively check nearby risk conditions during heavy rainfall.

In the Earthquakes/Seismic Reinforcement category, citizens can view earthquake occurrence information as well as the locations of earthquake outdoor evacuation sites and emergency evacuation locations for earthquake tsunamis, supporting swift evacuation and response in emergencies.

In the Nuclear Safety category, the website provides real-time environmental radiation status and, in the event of a radiation emergency, offers related information such as relief facilities for disaster victims, helping minimize public anxiety.

In the Ground Subsidence/Landslides category, the website provides information on landslide-prone areas, ground subsidence occurrence status, and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey information so that citizens can recognize potential hazards in their surroundings in advance. In preparation for climate-related disasters such as heat waves and cold waves, it also provides the locations of cooling shelters and warming shelters, along with action guidelines by situation.

In the Shelters category, the website integrates and provides information on various evacuation and safety facilities, including civil defense shelters, earthquake outdoor evacuation sites, earthquake tsunami evacuation locations, cooling shelters, warming shelters, and temporary housing facilities for disaster victims. It can be used as everyday safety information during normal times and as a practical evacuation and response guidance service when disasters occur.

The pilot operation will run through April 30. Afterward, Busan Metropolitan City plans to address issues identified during the pilot period, stabilize the system, and begin official operation of the Busan Safety ON website starting in May.

Through the Busan Safety ON website, Busan Metropolitan City plans to continuously enhance the service so that citizens can easily and quickly access the necessary information even during disaster situations and prepare for safe daily living, establishing it as a reliable gateway for urban safety information.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Busan Safety ON is a citizen-centered website that integrates and provides disaster and safety information that had previously been scattered,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen its content and functions so that citizens can respond more swiftly in crisis situations and feel safety in their everyday lives.”
