2026 Open Recruitment for Preliminary Curators at the Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum

The Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum announced that it will hold an open recruitment for “2026 Preliminary Curators (fixed-term workers)” from today (the 8th) through Jan. 16, to foster professional talent in museum curatorial fields and create youth employment opportunities.

Recruitment will be conducted in three fields—collections management, academic education, and exhibition operations—and one person will be selected for each field, for a total of three positions. Selected preliminary curators will complete an approximately nine-month course of on-site education and practical training centered on museum curatorial work at the Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum from March 3 through Nov. 27.

The daily wage for preliminary curators will be KRW 98,200, based on the 2026 Busan-style Living Wage Scheme, and weekly holiday allowance and holiday bonus pay will be provided separately.

In addition, the museum plans to operate a tailored “Job Training Program,” running education and hands-on practice in parallel so that preliminary curators can systematically understand the full scope of museum curatorial duties and strengthen their practical competencies.

Eligibility is limited to Busan Metropolitan City residents aged 18 to 39, pursuant to the Busan Metropolitan City Youth Basic Ordinance, who have graduated from a four-year university in a field related to the duties of the position to be performed. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant work experience and those holding a master’s degree or higher in modern and contemporary history.
