Busan Airport Limousine Buses to Adjust Services Based on Demand; Changes Take Effect on January 5, 2026

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will partially reorganize the operating system of the airport limousine buses, which connect Gimhae International Airport with major tourist destinations in Busan, and the changes will take effect from the first bus on January 5, 2026.

This reorganization was carried out based on the results of an analysis of actual operational data collected over the past five months, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and enhancing passenger convenience.

Airport Limousine 1 (Haeundae·Gijang route) will newly add a stop at the East Busan Tourist Complex (Osiria Theme Park bound for the airport; Hanwha Matier bound for Gijang) to reflect tourism demand in East Busan.

In addition, the locations of some stops around Haeundae Beach will be adjusted to minimize confusion among passengers. The stop will be changed from “Haeundae Beach Entrance (09112)” to “Haeundae Beach (09116),” so that passengers will use stops with unified names for inbound and outbound directions.

Furthermore, the route will be split and the dispatching system improved by reducing the number of trips on the low-demand Gijang route and increasing services on the high-demand Jangsan route. This will reduce the headway for departures from Jangsan from the current 60 minutes to 20–60 minutes, and additional buses will be deployed to prevent boarding inconvenience caused by fully occupied buses even during peak times when airport demand is concentrated.

Airport Limousine 2 (Seomyeon·Bujeon route) will lower the adult fare by KRW 1,500, from KRW 7,500 to KRW 6,000, to ease the burden on passengers.

The headway will be adjusted to 60–80 minutes, while the route and stops will remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, the airport limousine bus service—previously suspended last year due to the operator’s surrender of route rights—was resumed after a new operator was selected in February this year. Following a complete refurbishment, the service began operations again on July 31.

From the start of operations through the end of December, the service recorded an average daily ridership of approximately 300 passengers, with cumulative ridership reaching 50,000. This indicates stable operations even at this early stage.

Hwang Hyeon-cheol, Director General of the Transportation Innovation Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said, “This reorganization reflects a comprehensive review of passenger travel patterns and feedback from citizens during the five months since operations began,” adding, “We focused on improving both route efficiency and passenger convenience at the same time.” He continued, “We will continue to monitor airport limousine bus usage and reasonably improve routes and the operating system.”
