Busan Metropolitan City to Host the 2025 Busan Private Investment Forum

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the city will host the 2025 Busan Private Investment Forum today (December 23) at 3:00 p.m. at the Conference Hall of Busan City Hotel.

The Busan Private Investment Forum has been held annually since 2010, hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Private Investment Forum, with the aim of exploring ways to revitalize private investment.

This year’s forum will bring together experts from academia, finance, and the construction industry, along with citizens, to discuss strategies for promoting private investment and advancing the undergrounding of railways at Bujeon Station and Busan Station.

The forum will proceed in the following order: keynote presentations, a comprehensive panel discussion, and a question-and-answer session.

At the forum, Professor Kim Hyun-ah, Adjunct Professor at Gachon University and former 20th National Assembly member, will deliver the first presentation on “Railway Undergrounding and Strategies to Enhance Regional and Urban Competitiveness.” This will be followed by the second presentation by Professor Kwon Il of the Korea National University of Transportation on “Urban Spatial Multi-Level Complex Development Using Railway Sites: Strategies and Challenges.” The third presentation will be given by Han Young-sook, CEO of Sight Planning, on “Strategies for Advancing Railway Undergrounding Projects through Private Investment.”

Following the presentations, a panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Seo Jeong-ryeol of Youngsan University. Panelists will include Professor Han Deok-hee of the Department of Finance at Dong-A University and Dr. Kang Hyun-joo of the Housing and Urban Research Institute at Youngsan University, who will engage in an in-depth discussion. A Q&A session with participants will follow.

Kim Kyung-tae, Director General of the Planning and Coordination Office of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “We hope that the discussions at this forum will help present a clear direction for the future of private investment projects in our city and serve as a foundation for Busan’s continued development.”

Meanwhile, the Busan Private Investment Forum is a public-private collaborative body established in December 2010 with the purpose of developing policies and providing advisory support for private investment projects. It carries out a wide range of activities, including hosting annual forums and seminars.
