Busan Santa Buses Resume Safe Operations for the 2025–2026 Year-End and New Year Season

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (the 22nd) that it will operate the “2025–2026 Year-End and New Year Busan Santa Bus Event” from today through mid-January next year.

The “Busan Santa Bus” is a year-end and New Year seasonal event that has been voluntarily organized for several years by dedicated city bus companies and drivers to bring special joy to citizens around Christmas. It has since grown into a widely loved signature attraction nationwide.

Although operations were temporarily suspended this year to reinforce safety measures, Santa buses will resume service from today (the 22nd) through mid-January next year, with 10 buses operating on 10 routes:
① Samjin Route No. 15 (Geumgok–Chungmudong),
② Citizen Route No. 24 (Yonghodong–Seomyeon),
③ Yonghwa Route No. 41 (Millakdong–Chungmudong),
④ Samsung Route No. 43 (Hoedong–Minju Park),
⑤ Samsin Route No. 49 (Geumjeong Depot–Gwangalli),
⑥ Geumjin Route No. 128-1 (Gangseo Depot–Silla University),
⑦ Haedong Route No. 141 (Songjeong–Dangam-dong),
⑧ Taejin Route No. 169 (Dangam-dong–Mandeok),
⑨ Daejin Route No. 187 (Bansong–Jangan),
⑩ Nambu Route No. 508 (Yeongdo–Minju Park).

To operate the Santa buses this year, the city has relaunched the program in a way that preserves its original fun while enhancing safety.

A design developed jointly by veteran Santa bus drivers, the bus industry, and experts has been applied to increase enjoyment, while Busan Metropolitan City also participated directly by decorating both the interior and exterior of the buses using a full wrapping method*, thereby ensuring safety.

*Wrapping: the act of covering or enveloping an object, typically referring to film work used to change a vehicle’s exterior appearance.

Hwang Hyeon-cheol, Director General of the City’s Transportation Innovation Bureau, stated, “We sincerely appreciate the interest and support shown by citizens for the Santa buses, which have become one of Busan’s signature attractions during the year-end and New Year season,” adding, “Busan Metropolitan City will continue to do its utmost to create a public transportation environment that is enjoyable, convenient, and safe for all.”
