Busan Metropolitan City Holds the 2025 Startup Support Program Performance Report Conference

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon and Seo Jong-gun, President of the Busan Startup Investment Agency, announced that the 2025 Busan Metropolitan City Startup Support Program Performance Report Conference will be held today (the 16th) at Lotte Hotel Busan.

This conference will serve as a comprehensive year-end review of the city’s flagship startup support initiatives, namely the Growth-Stage-Based 4S Startup Support Program and the Busan Representative Startup Company Support Program. It will share annual performance results and comprehensively assess the achievements of technology-based startups in investment attraction and global market expansion. Approximately 250 representatives from companies participating in Busan Metropolitan City’s startup support programs are expected to attend.

Under the slogan “B-Startup Day Beyond 2025,” this year’s event will go beyond the main performance report conference. Starting at 10 a.m., the city will significantly expand related programs, including meetups with investors from the Seoul metropolitan area and a global exchange meeting, ahead of the main event.

The main Performance Report Conference will begin at 4 p.m. and proceed with a unicorn company keynote lecture, a performance report, awards recognizing four outstanding startup companies, presentations by two exemplary companies, and networking sessions, in that order.

The awards will be presented to company representatives who have contributed to revitalizing the local startup ecosystem. The award recipients are Kim Ki-tae, CEO of Devd Co., Ltd.; Jeong Young-in, CEO of Sea Life Science Lab Co., Ltd.; Kim Jeong-min, CEO of BEM Robotics Co., Ltd.; and Kim Da-won, CEO of Marina Chain Co., Ltd.

Among the award-winning companies, BEM Robotics and Marina Chain will present exemplary cases of outstanding project implementation.

In addition, a keynote lecture by Baek Jun-ho, CEO of unicorn company FuriosaAI, along with investor networking and other diverse linked programs, will be provided to boost startup morale and create opportunities to further expand the startup ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Growth-Stage-Based 4S Startup Support Program is Busan Metropolitan City’s flagship startup support initiative, designed to discover and foster technology-based startups through a customized support system tailored to each growth stage—entry, pre-startup, early-stage, and scale-up—focusing on both identification and growth.

Through the Growth-Stage-Based 4S Startup Support Program and the Busan Representative Startup Company Support Program, Busan Metropolitan City selected a total of 153 companies and provided comprehensive support, including competency diagnostics, provision of office space, basic training, customized consulting, commercialization funding, and technical assistance.

In particular, this year the city introduced the Startup ON Package, which allows anyone to receive a startup diagnosis in order to lower barriers to entering entrepreneurship. In addition, new customized programs were launched for prospective entrepreneurs who possess innovative technologies and ideas.

Lee Jin-su, Director General of Financial & Startup Policy at Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “This year marks the inaugural year in which the Busan Startup Investment Agency, the region’s first dedicated startup support organization, has officially launched. We have strengthened the ecosystem in multiple layers so that startups with growth potential can more flexibly access investment and market expansion opportunities.” He added, “Going forward, we will continue to establish effective policies and support systems so that companies can grow steadily and take root within the regional ecosystem.”
