Workshop Held to Build a Happier Busan Through Everyday Policy Ideas: “2025 Everyday Policy Participation Group Busan Workshop”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2025 Everyday Policy Participation Group Busan Workshop” today (December 10) at 2 p.m. in the first-floor auditorium of City Hall to strengthen the activity capabilities of the Everyday Policy Participation Group.

○ The workshop will be attended by about 130 participants, including members of the 10th Everyday Policy Participation Group and district and county officials. The program will proceed in the following order: presentation of commendations for outstanding contributions to everyday policy participation, a capacity-building special lecture, and presentations of exemplary policy proposal cases.

○ The Everyday Policy Participation Group is a participatory organization that proposes policy ideas based on citizens’ everyday inconveniences and suggestions for improvement. Busan Metropolitan City has systematized the group’s activities and strengthened communication between the public and private sectors through annual workshops.

<Status of Everyday Policy Participation Group Operations> • Legal Basis: Article 25 of the National Proposal Regulations, Operational Guidelines for the Everyday Policy Participation Group (Ministry of the Interior and Safety Directive) • Term: (10th group) Mar. 1, 2025 – Feb. 28, 2027 (2 years) ▷ Appointed by the Minister of the Interior and Safety • Members: 163 members across 16 districts and counties (1,804 nationwide) • Major Activities: Online activities such as policy proposals and reporting everyday inconveniences; offline activities such as on-site policy monitoring

The workshop will provide the Participation Group with an opportunity to review the policy proposal activities carried out during the year and share the outcomes achieved and areas for improvement identified during the policy-reflection process.

○ In addition, participants will exchange problem-solving approaches and insights (know-how) based on policy proposal cases from each district and county, and Busan Metropolitan City plans to further expand its cooperative foundation for identifying citizen-centered policies.

U Seok-bong, Busan representative of the Everyday Policy Participation Group, stated, “The activities of the Participation Group play an important role in turning the small inconveniences citizens experience into policy improvements,” adding, “I hope this workshop serves as an opportunity to share experiences and strengthen capabilities for developing impactful policy proposals.”

Cho Young-tae, Director General of the Administrative Management Bureau, remarked, “The Everyday Policy Participation Group is an important partner connecting citizens’ voices to municipal governance,” and added, “Through this workshop, we will further reinforce the foundation for closer communication between citizens and public officials.”
