2026 Red Cross Membership Fund “Hope Sharing National Donation Campaign” Launched in Busan

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that, on December 3 at 2 p.m., the “2026 Red Cross Membership Fund Hope Sharing National Donation Campaign Launch Ceremony” will be held at the Protocol Room on the 7th floor of City Hall, in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross Busan Chapter (Chairman Koo Jeong-hoe).

Hosted by the Korean Red Cross Busan Chapter, the ceremony marks the beginning of the “Hope Sharing National Donation” campaign for the 2026 Red Cross Membership Fund.

In addition, to elevate public awareness of the value of Red Cross humanitarian activities and promote wider participation, a donation ceremony by major donors* will also take place during the event.

*Major donors: Kwon Jung-cheon, Chair of Heechang Trading Co., Ltd.; Jung Sung-woo, CEO of GMAX Co., Ltd.; Kim Dae-young, CEO of Busan Cheonggwa; Jung Yeon-taek, CEO of DCM Co., Ltd.; Kim Young-ju, Chair of the Busan Country Club; Hong Sung-bak, CEO of Bugok Stainless Co., Ltd.; Cho Hyun-sook, Vice Chair of the Korean Red Cross Busan Chapter; Park Sung-eun, Chair of the Women’s Volunteer Advisory Committee of the Korean Red Cross Busan Chapter; and Kim Kyung, Chair of the Busan City Council of the Red Cross Volunteer Corps.

The 2026 Red Cross Membership Fund campaign will run intensively until January 31, 2026, and will continue in a year-round donation format until the end of November. The funds raised will be used for various humanitarian initiatives, including disaster relief and prevention, identifying and supporting vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots, providing medical assistance, delivering health and safety education, and carrying out community service programs.

Meanwhile, since 2000, Busan Metropolitan City has taken part in the membership fund campaign each year by contributing a special Red Cross membership fee, in support of Red Cross programs such as promoting a culture of giving and providing emergency aid to vulnerable groups.

In recognition of its long-standing participation and contribution to fundraising efforts, the City will receive the “Grand Honor Medal for Distinguished Service” from the Korean Red Cross during the ceremony. The Grand Honor Medal is the highest-level award bestowed upon individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to raising resources for Red Cross programs, given to donors who have contributed a cumulative total of over 500 million KRW.

Mayor Park Heong-joon expressed his gratitude, stating, “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has joined this campaign with warm generosity toward our neighbors. The Red Cross’s dedicated efforts to support vulnerable residents in times of disaster and hardship provide great strength to our community.”

He continued, “The humanitarian activities carried out by the Red Cross form an essential foundation for building a safe and secure Busan. I hope that today’s launch ceremony will serve as an opportunity to further spread the culture of sharing in our city and to energize the humanitarian work of the Red Cross.”
