Saemaul Movement Leads in Busan: 2025 Busan Saemaul Leaders Conference to Be Held

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the 2025 Busan Saemaul Leaders Conference today (December 3) at 3 p.m. in the main auditorium on the first floor of Busan City Hall.

The event aims to recognize the dedication of Saemaul leaders who have devoted themselves throughout the year to fostering community spirit through local development and sharing, while also providing an opportunity to collectively review major achievements from 2025.

Mayor Park Heong-joon will attend the ceremony along with members of the National Assembly, the Chair and members of the City Council, district mayors and county governors, chairs of district and county councils, and approximately 600 Saemaul leaders.

The main program includes a video presentation highlighting the year’s achievements, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing 45 outstanding leaders.
Government commendations, ministerial awards, and mayoral awards will be presented directly by Mayor Park Heong-joon in recognition of the exemplary leaders’ contributions.

Meanwhile, the Busan Saemaul Association (Chair Baek Ok-ja) successfully hosted the National Saemaul Conference last November, welcoming more than 10,000 Saemaul leaders from across the nation. Throughout the year, the association has also actively engaged in various community service activities—including environmental cleanups, traffic-safety campaigns, and support for neighbors in need—continuing its efforts to promote the development of local communities.

Mayor Park Heong-joon is expected to say, “This year, our Busan Saemaul Association successfully hosted the National Saemaul Leaders Conference, showcasing the strength of Busan as a Global Hub City to our visitors. Your volunteerism and commitment are making Busan a more vibrant, warmer, and better place to live. Busan Metropolitan City will continue working with you to build a city where everyone would choose to live again, even if born anew.”
