Busan Metropolitan City to Conduct On-site Survey for the 2025 Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will conduct an on-site survey for the 2025 Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries through December 22 to identify the scale, distribution, structure, and management types of agricultural, forestry, and fishery households, which will be used to inform development and support policies in the sector.

The 2025 Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is overseen by the National Data Agency (formerly Statistics Korea) and administered locally by Busan Metropolitan City (districts and counties).

The census consists of 133 items across four types of survey forms, covering topics such as climate change in rural areas (rice paddy water management), advancements in farming technologies (smart agriculture), demographic transitions (nationality, employment of foreign workers), and changes in living convenience facilities within administrative villages (animal hospitals, obstetrics and gynecology clinics, family centers), reflecting the latest structural and environmental changes in the sector.

From December 1 to 22, a total of 660 survey personnel will be deployed to conduct in-person interviews with approximately 52,000 households and 189 administrative villages using a door-to-door approach.

Households that may feel uncomfortable responding to personal questions face-to-face may conveniently participate via online or telephone survey until December 10.

To participate online, respondents may visit the Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website at www.affcensus.go.kr and enter the participation number provided in the survey notice sent by mail.

The National Data Agency will offer a mobile voucher worth approximately 20,000 KRW (“Rural Love Mobile Gift Certificate,” NH gift certificate) to households selected through a draw among those who complete the online survey.

For those wishing to participate by telephone or seeking assistance regarding their participation number, survey items, or prize draw, guidance is available through the call center (080-360-2025).

Households that do not participate online will be visited by a census interviewer, who will conduct the survey using a tablet PC.

This year, households may schedule their preferred interview time in advance through the Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website (www.affcensus.go.kr).

Survey personnel will carry an official “Census Survey Enumerator ID Card” issued by the district/county office and the National Data Agency, and respondents are advised to verify this identification before participating.

Jeong Na-yeong, Director General of the Future Technology Strategy Bureau, stated, “The Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is a national basic statistical survey designed to identify key environmental changes affecting the sector, including foreign worker employment, climate change, and smart farming.” She added, “As the census follows immediately after the Population and Housing Census, we understand that agricultural, forestry, and fishery households may experience inconvenience; however, we kindly request active cooperation and participation to help build a better future for the industry.”
