Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Venture Business Association to Host “2025 Venture Entrepreneurs’ Day”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the “2025 Venture Entrepreneurs’ Day” today (27th) at 17:00 at the Grand Moment Youth Hostel, in cooperation with the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups and the Busan Venture Business Association.

The event aims to encourage and recognize outstanding venture entrepreneurs and related institutional representatives in Busan, strengthen the pride of local venture entrepreneurs, promote exchange and unity among them, and create an atmosphere of mutual support.

Mayor Park Heong-joon, Kang Gi-seong, Head of the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, and Jeong Hyeon-don, Chairperson of the Busan Venture Business Association, along with approximately 120 venture business representatives and related stakeholders from the Busan region, are expected to attend.

At the awards ceremony, the Busan Venture Entrepreneur Award, the New Technology Innovation Award, and the Venture Business Promotion Merit Award (Busan Mayor’s Commendation) will be presented.

The Busan Venture Entrepreneur Award will be conferred on five recipients:
Kim Andre, CEO of Korea Liposome Co., Ltd.;
Yang Jae-uk, CEO of iBIO Korea Co., Ltd.;
Kim Jeong-su, CEO of EASYG Co., Ltd.;
Song Jong-won, CEO of Somuna Co., Ltd.;
and Bae Ho-jin, CEO of Sandberg Co., Ltd.

Awardees will receive honorary recognition and benefits for three years as outstanding entrepreneurs under the Ordinance on Courtesy for Entrepreneurs and Promotion of Business Activities of Busan Metropolitan City, including certificates, preferential access to SME operation and development funds, and special credit guarantee support.

For the Venture Business Promotion Merit Award (Busan Mayor’s Commendation), Jeon Hye-jeong, Chairperson of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Women’s Venture Association, and Im Jun-woo, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, have been selected.

Four individuals have been selected for the New Technology Innovation Award:
Kim Jeong-hyeon, CEO of EMBAS Co., Ltd. (Busan Mayor’s Commendation);
and Kim Hyo-yeol, CEO of COOLS Co., Ltd.;
Sim Won-hwa, CEO of Gaju Information Technology Co., Ltd.;
and Choi Jae-yeong, CEO of Bitgaram System Co., Ltd. (Minister of SMEs and Startups Commendation).

For the Venture 30th Anniversary Contribution Award (Busan Venture Business Association Chairperson’s Award), the honorees are:
Im Dong-sik, Head of the Southeast Regional News Bureau at Electronic Times;
Lee Un-sik, Dean of the Graduate School of Technology Management at Pukyong National University;
Kim Hyeong-cheol, member of the Busan Metropolitan Council;
and Choi Su-ho, Director of Busan Tech Holdings.

Jeong Hyeon-don, Chairperson of the Busan Venture Business Association, will congratulate the awardees and express appreciation to all member companies of both the Busan Venture Business Association and the Busan Information Technology Association, stating his commitment to revitalizing the venture ecosystem and supporting joint innovation and challenges as the association celebrates the 30th anniversary of venture entrepreneurship in Korea.

Mayor Park Heong-joon will convey his congratulations and encouragement to the awardees, noting that “Over the past three years, Busan has created funds totaling approximately KRW 1.49 trillion and achieved meaningful milestones such as the establishment of the Busan Startup Investment Agency this year.” He will add, “Busan will continue to build a KRW 2 trillion investment ecosystem by 2030 to ensure that local businesses can secure stable investment and grow, standing alongside companies every step of the way and providing all necessary support.”
