Busan Metropolitan City to Host “Daengdaeng Sunday,” a Late-Autumn Picnic with Companion Animals

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host “Daengdaeng Sunday (Companion-Animal Picnic Experience)” on November 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the dog playground within Capricho (located in Mandeok-dong, Buk-gu).

This event is being held as a follow-up to the 1st Animal Protection Day (September 27–28), which Busan Metropolitan City organized jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to mark Animal Protection Day (October 4), newly designated this year as a national anniversary. Participants will be able to enjoy a healing experience in a space where urban life meets nature, together with their companion animals.

Approximately 250 people are expected to join the event, which will feature a picnic experience accompanied by a Korean traditional music concert, pet caricatures, and the Daengdaeng Playground (mini agility experience), offering various opportunities for memorable moments shared between guardians and their pets.

[Main Program] The event will include a companion-animal picnic experience with a Korean traditional music concert, along with an awards ceremony for the 2nd Companion-Animal Photo Contest (five awardees).
[Side Programs] Additional programs will include pet caricatures, Daengdaeng Playground (mini agility experience), exhibitions of award-winning works from the 1st and 2nd photo contests, a photo zone, and more.

An awards ceremony for the “Busan Companion-Animal Photo Contest” will also take place during the event.

The second edition of the contest, held this past May, was themed “Companion Animals—Another Name for Family” and received over 120 submissions. Following review and evaluation, a total of 15 works were selected (one Grand Prize, one Gold Prize, one Silver Prize, two Bronze Prizes, and ten Honorable Mentions).

On the event day, an awards ceremony will be held for the top five selected works. Contest results are available from today (19th) on the City’s website (https://busan.go.kr/nbgosi).

Participation is free of charge and can be reserved in advance by accessing the pre-registration page through the QR code provided in the event poster or by visiting the Mungkok pre-registration page at https://mungkok.com/fit/37247.

Participants who complete pre-registration will receive a free beverage coupon and may use the small-dog and medium/large-dog playgrounds at the venue at no cost.
