Busan Metropolitan City Provides Winter Supplies to 3,477 Vulnerable Senior Citizens Ahead of the Cold Season

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the city will take preemptive measures to provide winter supplies so that vulnerable senior citizens can stay warm and safe during the upcoming cold season.

The city will invest 60 million KRW from the Disaster Relief Fund to supply 3,477 vulnerable seniors in 16 districts and counties with winter blankets, thermal underwear, carbon-heated mats, padded vests, and other items from November 18 (Tuesday) to November 25 (Tuesday).

The Busan Senior Welfare Support Center will distribute the supplies to local organizations responsible for providing customized care services for seniors. These organizations will then visit each household to deliver the items.

Additionally, the service providers will check on the well-being of seniors and offer health guidelines on how to prepare for the cold weather, supporting seniors to stay warm and safe throughout the winter.

Meanwhile, the city provides supplies to vulnerable seniors every year using the Disaster Relief Fund in preparation for summer heat waves·winter cold spells.

Last June, in preparation for the summer heat wave, the city delivered fans·summer blankets to 2,859 vulnerable seniors using 80 million KRW from the Disaster Relief Fund.

Jeong Tae-gi, Director General of Social Welfare, stated, “We prepared this support initiative to deliver a bit of warmth to seniors who may face difficulties due to sudden cold waves,” adding, “Busan Metropolitan City will continue doing its best to build a warm and happy city for all citizens.”
