Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that Mayor Park Heong-joon will participate again this year as “Chief Santa No. 1” for the “Green Umbrella Santa Expedition,” joining efforts to deliver hope and love to children from low-income families.

The “Green Umbrella Santa Expedition” is a charity campaign jointly organized by Green Umbrella ChildFund Korea and the Kookje Shinmun. Children from low-income households write letters describing the gifts they wish to receive for Christmas, and donors become Santas who deliver customized presents.

Celebrating its 19th anniversary this year, the campaign has become a heartwarming sharing tradition that delivers love and hope to children every year during the Christmas season.

Donations collected through this campaign will be used to support children in low-income families in Busan, including wish–granting funds, heating costs, study fees, and cultural experience expenses, helping them spend a warm and fulfilling winter.

On December 18 at 4 p.m., Santas will gather at Haneulyeongeukjang of the Busan Cinema Center for a gift-wrapping event and finale ceremony, sharing the significance of the campaign.

Anyone—businesses, individuals, and organizations—may participate in the “Green Umbrella Santa Expedition.”

Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “Every child has the right to be loved,” adding, “We will work even harder to ensure that all children can pursue their dreams without discrimination and enjoy a warm year-end. I kindly ask for the active interest of citizens so that children’s Christmas wishes may come true.”
