2025–2026 Season BNK SUM Women’s Professional Basketball Team to Hold Home Opener on November 16

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the home opener of the BNK SUM Women’s Professional Basketball Team (owned by Bang Seong-bin) will be held at 14:25 on November 16 at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, marking both the 2025–2026 Women’s Professional Basketball League season opener and the team’s first home game.

This opening match marks the official start of BNK SUM’s challenge for a second consecutive championship title after winning their first-ever championship last season. The team will face the Incheon Shinhan Bank S-Birds.

The opening game will be attended by Mayor Park Heong-joon, Korea Women’s Basketball League (WKBL) Commissioner Shin Sang-hoon, BNK Financial Group Chairman Bin Daein, BNK Busan Bank President Bang Seong-bin, basketball fans, and Busan citizens, who will come together to celebrate the beginning of the 2025–2026 women’s professional basketball season in Busan.

Beginning at 13:30—one hour before the official game—various pre-game events will take place, including an opening performance by the BNK SUM junior cheerleading team, introductions of both home and away team players, and a ceremonial tip-off.

Starting with the opening performance by the BNK SUM junior cheerleading team, the program will continue with the players’ entrance, opening remarks and club flag performance by BNK Busan Bank President Bang Seong-bin, congratulatory remarks by Mayor Park Heong-joon, and an opening declaration by WKBL Commissioner Shin Sang-hoon.

This will be followed by team warm-ups, introduction of team chants, starting lineup introductions, and the ceremonial tip-off. The official game will begin at 14:25.

Meanwhile, BNK SUM advanced to the playoffs last season after finishing second in the regular league, and went on to win their first-ever championship title, elevating the status of professional sports in Busan.

As defending champions, BNK SUM enters the new season aiming even higher, with the ambitious goal of achieving an “overall championship.”

Mayor Park Heong-joon is expected to say, “BNK SUM is a proud team that wrote a new chapter in Busan sports history last season,” adding, “I hope they once again inspire and delight citizens with great performances this season, and I ask all fans for their passionate support and encouragement for today’s victory.”
