Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that from today (13th) through the 19th, it will conduct an “online citizen evaluation” of 15 outstanding ideas submitted to the “Policy Idea Contest for Public Institution Employees.”

This citizen evaluation aims to incorporate citizens’ perspectives into the judging process, enhance the objectivity of the evaluation, and expand civic interest and participation in municipal administration.

Citizens can select 5 out of the 15 outstanding ideas presented in the city website survey. Anyone can participate, and 100 participants will be selected by lottery to receive a gift voucher worth 10,000 won.

Outline of the Online Citizen Evaluation for the “Happy Citizens, Better Busan Policy Ideas Contest”

This contest, under the theme “Ideas Proposed by Public Institution Employees—Policies That Create a Happier Citizenry and a Better Busan,” is being conducted to identify policy ideas that will enhance the happiness of Busan citizens and strengthen the city’s status as a global hub city, ultimately reflecting them in municipal administration.

From September 22 to October 21, the City received a total of 503 idea submissions and selected 15 outstanding ideas through expert evaluation conducted from November 4 to 11.

By field, ideas were selected in citizen safety (4), culture & tourism (3), administration & finance (2), health & welfare (2), urban & housing (2), and sports (1), reflecting a diverse range of citizen-oriented, practical policy proposals.

Among the 15 outstanding ideas, 1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Awards, 3 Merit Awards, and 4 Honorable Mentions—a total of 10 ideas—will be finally selected. Awardees (individuals or teams) will receive the Mayor of Busan Award and prize money (Grand Prize: 1,000,000 won; Excellence: 500,000 won each; Merit: 300,000 won each; Honorable Mention: 100,000 won each).

The citizen evaluation will carry a weight of 10 points, which will be combined with expert evaluation (60 points) and presentation evaluation (30 points) to determine the final ranking based on total score.

Regardless of ranking, the City will support the pilot implementation or policy application of excellent ideas through consultation with relevant departments going forward.

Kim Gyeong-tae, Director General of Planning and Coordination, stated, “Through this contest, we were able to confirm the high level of interest public institution employees have in municipal administration,” adding, “We ask for active participation and interest so that ideas directly evaluated and supported by citizens can be implemented in the field and contribute to building a better Busan.”
