Busan and South Gyeongsang Seek Public Opinion on Administrative Integration: Field Briefing Sessions to Be Held in Busan During the Second Half of 2025

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan–Gyeongnam Administrative Integration Public Deliberation Committee (Co-Chairs: Jeon Ho-hwan and Jeong Won-sik; hereinafter “the Committee”) announced that they will hold the “2025 Busan Regional Second-Half Field Briefing Sessions” to hear citizens’ opinions on administrative integration.

The first session will be held today (November 12) at 10:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of Arpina (Busan Metropolitan Corporation), targeting residents of Haeundae-gu and Gijang-gun.
A total of eight sessions will be held sequentially across Busan until early December.
Any citizens interested in the administrative integration of Busan and South Gyeongsang Province are welcome to participate.

Following the public forums held in the first half of this year, Busan Metropolitan City and the Committee aim to address citizens’ questions and concerns about the administrative integration of Busan and South Gyeongsang Province.
By refining region-specific policies and anticipated benefits, the sessions will provide a field-oriented approach to explaining the integration process.

The city expects these sessions to serve as an opportunity to listen to citizens’ voices and jointly deliberate on strategies for local development.

Jeon Ho-hwan, Co-Chair of the Committee, stated,
“Currently, Korea faces a national crisis of regional extinction. Through administrative integration between Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, we must build a robust, decentralized local government system.
The most crucial aspect of this integration process is that it must be bottom-up and led by local communities.
Building on the citizen forums held earlier this year, these second-half field sessions will provide a platform to exchange ideas about our region’s development strategies and the roles of local residents.”
