Busan Metropolitan City to Host the “2025 Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “2025 Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo (BISFE 2025)”, the largest fisheries exhibition in Korea, will be held at BEXCO Hall 1 from November 5 (Wed) to 7 (Fri) for three days.

This year’s event will serve as a comprehensive exhibition encompassing all aspects of the fisheries industry—from seafood and equipment to aquaculture technology, research, and policy—aiming to promote sustainable growth and expand global cooperation in the fisheries sector.

The event is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by BEXCO Co., Ltd. and the Korea Fisheries Association.

Since its inception in 2003, the Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo has steadily grown into a globally recognized event, receiving UFI (Union des Foires Internationales) international certification in 2008. This year, it will feature 460 companies from 29 countries across 1,200 booths, the largest scale in its history.

In particular, seven new participating countries, including Ecuador, Greece, and Tunisia, are expected to offer visitors a comprehensive view of global trends in the fisheries industry.

The event will expand business-oriented programs such as the invited overseas buyer trade meeting, the Large & Small Business Matching Day, and the Global Business Consultation, fostering exchange between companies and offering diverse networking opportunities to generate tangible business results.

Beginning with the opening ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on November 5, the exhibition will include several themed halls, such as the Seafood Pavilion, Fisheries Equipment & Smart Aquaculture Pavilion, Startup & Investment Support Pavilion, and Special Exhibition Hall, offering a comprehensive view of the present and future of the fisheries industry.

The Seafood Pavilion will showcase a variety of processed seafood products, solar salt, and health foods; the Fisheries Equipment & Smart Aquaculture Pavilion will present cutting-edge fisheries machinery and processing technologies; the Startup & Investment Support Pavilion will feature marine and fisheries startup and investment programs, as well as new materials and functional products; and the Special Exhibition Hall will highlight premium Busan seafood, award-winning brands, and a mackerel promotion corner.

Academic events will include the Busan Fisheries Policy Forum and the Korean Federation of Fisheries Science & Technology Societies International Symposium, providing a professional platform for discussing policy directions and technological advancements in the fisheries industry.

Additionally, side events such as the Global Networking Reception, the Underwater Garden Art (Aquascape) Contest, and citizen participation events will offer a rich and engaging experience.

This year, the expo will strengthen citizen-focused programs by expanding interactive and consumer-oriented activities, including seafood tasting events and discount coupon promotions, enabling the general public to directly experience and enjoy the exhibition.

The Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo has been selected as a Promising Exhibition by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (2008–2020) and as a Regional Global Top Exhibition (2022–2025). Through continuous expansion of its international network, the event has reinforced the status of Busan as the Maritime Capital of Korea.
