Busan Metropolitan City to Host “2025 Global Gastronomy Forum” Discussion on the Vision for Global Gastronomy Tourism

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan Tourism Organization (President Lee Jeong-sil) announced that the 2025 Global Gastronomy Forum will be held today (October 28) at 2:00 p.m. at Paradise Hotel Busan.
This forum is organized as a side event of the 1st Global Urban Tourism Summit (October 27–29).

Under the theme of “Future Trends in Global Gastronomy Tourism and Local Tourism Strategies,” approximately 60 participants—including domestic and international culinary experts, chefs, media representatives, and tourism professionals—will gather to discuss international cooperation and exchange in the field of gastronomy tourism.

The forum program will consist of a keynote speech, case presentations, panel discussions, and a special program featuring local chefs.

• ●Keynote Speech: Asier Alea Castaños, Director of Global Development at Basque Culinary Center in Spain and an expert in global gastronomy policy, will deliver a keynote address on “Global Gastronomy Tourism Trends and Urban Development Strategies.”

• ●Case Presentation: Park Sang-hyun, culinary columnist and Director of Busan Local Food Lab Co., Ltd., will present on “The Potential for the Development of Busan’s Culinary Culture and a Model for Regional Coexistence.”

• ●Panel Discussion: The two speakers will then join a discussion session with participants to exchange insights on “Policy Directions for Gastronomy Tourism and Intercity Cooperation.”

The highlight of the forum will be the Special Program – Local Chef Live Cooking Show.
Busan’s Michelin Guide-listed restaurants Sogonggan (Chef Park Ki-seop) and Outro by Vito (Chef Kim Sang-jin) will collaborate to showcase a Mediterranean-style fish dish, Papillote, using fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables from Busan.
The cooking process will be broadcast live on a large screen inside the forum venue, allowing participants to watch the chefs in real time and taste the completed dish together afterward.

Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Tourism Organization plan to use this forum to expand international dialogue on “gastronomy tourism as a city branding asset,” establish a Busan-style gastronomy ecosystem, and strengthen global cooperation networks.

In particular, they aim to use this event to build international consensus for hosting Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in Busan and to expand partnerships with leading culinary cities around the world.
Through these efforts, Busan intends to position itself as a global hub city for gastronomy tourism representing Asia.

Kim Hyun-jae, Director General of Tourism and MICE Bureau, stated,
