Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan Tourism Organization (President Lee Jeong-sil) announced that they will introduce a new “Sunset Tour” route to the Nakdong River Ecological Tour Boat’s Hwamyeong line — one of Busan’s signature ecological tourism contents — and operate it on a free trial basis from November 5 to 16 for approximately two weeks.

The “Sunset Tour” is a sunset-themed course centered around Hwamyeong Dock. This free trial operation has been prepared as an event for citizens and tourists to experience the charm of the Nakdong River’s golden sunset.

The “Sunset Tour” departs on its final schedule at 5 p.m. from Hwamyeong Dock and cruises for 40 minutes along an 8-kilometer route connecting major viewing points such as Daedong-Hwamyeong Bridge and Gupo Bridge.

The Nakdong River Ecological Tour Boat connects with nearby tourist attractions such as Hwamyeong Ecological Park, Busan Fisheries Folk Museum, Climate Change Experience and Education Center, Golden Sunset Bridge, Gupo Market, Nakdong River Estuary Migratory Bird Center, and Samnak Ecological Park, providing visitors with an ecological and emotionally engaging one-day tour around the Nakdong River.

During the free trial period, passengers who upload authenticated photos or reviews of their experience on their social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) will receive small commemorative gifts on-site after confirmation.

Following the free trial operation, paid regular cruises are scheduled to begin on November 19 and continue through March 2026.

Busan Metropolitan City expects that the introduction of the “Sunset Tour” will increase visitors’ stay time in the Nakdong River area and have a positive ripple effect on revitalizing tourism in western Busan.

Kim Hyeon-jae, Director General of Tourism & MICE Bureau, stated,
“The Nakdong River is a natural space within the city and a place of relaxation for citizens. Through this ‘Sunset Tour,’ we hope more citizens will enjoy the unique charm of the Nakdong River’s autumn ecology and its harmony with the urban landscape.”

He added, “We will continue expanding programs such as night cruises, themed events, and collaborations with local businesses to systematically connect western Busan’s natural ecology and cultural tourism resources. Through the creation of a sustainable tourism ecosystem, we aim to establish western Busan as a new hub for tourism in the city.”
