Busan Library to Host 5th Anniversary Concert “When Literature Asks, Music Answers”

Busan Library invites citizens to join the 5th anniversary concert “When Literature Asks, Music Answers,” and create warm autumn memories filled with beautiful melodies.

Busan Library announced that it will host the concert at 4 p.m. on November 8 in the Modeullak Theater on the first basement floor of the library.
This event is a fusion performance combining literature and music, designed to inspire artistic sensitivity and promote reading culture among citizens.

The concert will proceed in a unique format where librarian and pianist Kang Soo-geun poses literary questions, which are then explored through musical interpretation by Lee Il-se, the principal cellist of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, and followed by performances by Ensemble Cosmopolitan.

Music director Lee Il-se, who completed the highest-level performer program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, is a renowned cellist celebrated for his warm tone and passionate artistry. He currently serves as principal cellist of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and adjunct professor at Kyungsung University.

Collaborating artist Lee Myung-han graduated from Hochschule für Musik Mainz, where he completed the master’s and concert exam programs with distinction. He is an active performer both in Korea and abroad and currently teaches at Busan Arts Middle and High Schools. The concert will be hosted by Kang Soo-geun, librarian and pianist at Busan Library.

Meanwhile, Ensemble Cosmopolitan, the performing group, is an accomplished chamber ensemble with extensive experience, including numerous concerts and tours across Austria, Bulgaria, and Romania.
Notably, they performed the first preview concert at the newly opened Busan Concert Hall in 2025, achieving a sold-out performance and marking the hall’s official debut.

The program will feature Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons: Autumn and Winter” and Telemann’s “Don Quixote Suite”, offering audiences a profound musical journey connecting literature, the seasons, and the human spirit.

The concert is open to 200 local residents, and admission is free of charge. Reservations will be accepted online from 10 a.m. on October 28 through the library’s website (library.busan.go.kr) on a first-come, first-served basis.

Busan Library Director Park Eun-ah stated, “The concert ‘When Literature Asks, Music Answers’ will be a special moment where literature and music come together to create a new story.
I hope this event allows audiences to feel the depth of literature through the melodies of music and enjoy a truly emotional experience beyond their daily lives.”
