2025 Busan–Ho Chi Minh City Waterworks Administrative Exchange Conference Held

The Busan Water Authority announced that a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Water Supply Corporation (hereinafter “the delegation”) will visit Busan through October 24 to promote the development of the water supply sector and enhance friendly relations between the two cities. The delegation is led by Mr. Tran Duy Hong, Head of the Technical Engineering Department at the Tan Hiep Water Treatment Plant of the Ho Chi Minh City Water Supply Corporation.

On October 22, the delegation will first visit the Myeongjang Water Purification Plant in the morning to tour the water treatment facilities. Then, at 3:30 p.m., the 16th Busan–Ho Chi Minh City Waterworks Administrative Exchange Conference will be held in the conference room on the 7th floor of the Busan Water Authority building, attended by about 15 participants, including officials and representatives from both cities.

This year’s Administrative Exchange Conference focuses on the theme of “Waterworks Remote Meter Reading Systems.” The two cities will present their respective water metering systems and share information on current issues such as the progress of Busan’s remote metering implementation and the increasing costs of maintenance. They will also engage in in-depth discussions on future directions for metering systems utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Busan–Ho Chi Minh City Waterworks Administrative Exchange Conference began in 2005 as a follow-up measure to the mayor’s overseas administrative sales mission in 2004 and has since been held annually through 2019 to discuss common interests and promote the development of the waterworks sector in both cities.

Although the conference was held alternately in each city every other year, it was suspended due to COVID-19 and is now being resumed for the first time in six years.

On the final day of the visit (October 23), the delegation will tour major facilities in Busan, including the Busan Cinema Center and Nurimaru APEC House, to conclude their schedule.

Meanwhile, on October 21, the delegation visited the Deoksan Water Purification Plant and the Water Quality Research Center in the morning to observe Busan’s advanced water treatment facilities. In the afternoon, they visited the headquarters of Korea Cast Iron Pipe Industry Co., Ltd., located in Saha-gu, Busan, to observe the ductile cast iron pipe manufacturing process and discuss potential cooperation and technology exchange related to Busan’s industrial infrastructure.
