Busan Metropolitan City Warmly Welcomes Overseas Korean Sports Organizations Participating in the 106th National Sports Festival

□ Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st, a welcoming dinner would be held at Lotte Hotel Busan for overseas Korean sports organizations visiting from abroad to participate in the 106th National Sports Festival.

○ This event was organized to warmly welcome and encourage overseas Korean sports organizations visiting their homeland to participate in the National Sports Festival, which is being held in Busan for the first time in 25 years (October 17–23).
○ Attendees included Mayor Park Heong-joon; Lee Jong-hwan, Vice Chairperson of the Busan Metropolitan Council; Jang In-hwa, President of the Busan Sports Council; Jeong Joo-hyun, President of the World Federation of Korean Associations of Sports; and heads, presidents, executives, and athletes from 18 overseas Korean sports organizations from countries including the United States, Japan, Indonesia, and Brazil.

□ Through this dinner, participants were able to feel the warmth of their homeland and enjoy the charm and culture of Busan.
○ The event began with a Korean dance performance by the Biseul Dance Troupe, followed by a welcoming speech by the mayor, congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests, a return address by Jeong Joo-hyun, presentation of appreciation plaques, and a celebratory dinner and performances wishing the athletes success.
○ The Korean Sports Association in the United Kingdom also presented scholarships to promising young athletes in Busan, adding further significance to the event.

□ During the National Sports Festival, Busan Metropolitan City has formed dedicated support teams for each participating nation to provide on-site assistance and shuttle bus services, ensuring that the 1,512 overseas Korean athletes from 18 countries can compete in a comfortable and safe environment.
○ The athletes are expected to go beyond competition and victory to exchange friendship and reaffirm pride as members of the Korean community active across the world.

□ In his welcoming address, Mayor Park said, “I sincerely welcome all of you who have traveled from afar to visit Busan, the city of sports. Busan is a city where you can truly enjoy life—a city full of flavor, charm, and countless attractions and experiences. I hope this event will further strengthen your bonds with your homeland and that you will take with you the warmth and positive energy of Busan.”
