Busan Metropolitan City Research Institute of Public Health & Environment Earns ‘Top Grade’ Certification in the International Proficiency Testing for Drinking Water Analysis

Busan Metropolitan City Research Institute of Public Health & Environment (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”) announced that it has obtained the “Top Grade” certification by achieving “Satisfactory” results in all parameters of the International Proficiency Testing organized by the U.S. Environmental Resource Associates (ERA) for the drinking water sector.

The International Proficiency Testing program objectively evaluates the analytical capabilities of testing and analysis laboratories, serving as an important standard for verifying the reliability and accuracy of analytical results produced by these institutions. The Institute participates annually in both domestic and international proficiency assessments to enhance its analytical capabilities and meet global standards.

The International Proficiency Testing is conducted through testing agencies that comply with the regulations of the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) and involves analytical institutions around the world. Since 2017, the Institute has participated every year in the international proficiency program organized by the U.S. Environmental Resource Associates (ERA)*.

In the 2025 International Proficiency Testing, which involved over 870 participating institutions worldwide, the Institute received “Satisfactory” results in all 17 parameters and was recognized as a “Laboratory of Excellence” in the drinking water sector.

With this latest achievement, the Institute once again demonstrated its outstanding analytical competence internationally, maintaining the “Top Grade” certification for nine consecutive years since 2017.
