The heat of the 2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games meets the vibrant waves of culture and the arts!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the “2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games Cultural & Arts Festival – Wave On! Busan!” from October 17 to 23 at Haeundae Beach Event Plaza and the outdoor square of Sajik Stadium.

The festival aims to create a “Cultural Sports Festival that citizens can enjoy and be moved by, through the deep harmony of sports passion and cultural arts.” It will serve as a joyful gathering for athletes, spectators, and local citizens alike. The event will feature three major programs:
▲ the main performance “Harmony Wave,” ▲ the special program “Passion Wave,” and ▲ the side program “Play Wave.”

Main Performance: “Harmony Wave”

The centerpiece of the festival, “Harmony Wave,” will take place for three days from October 21 to 23 at Haeundae Beach Event Plaza.

Performers include more than 30 art groups representing major metropolitan cities and provinces across the nation, such as Busan’s “Modern Gugak Band Talpi” and “Kang Hye-ra,” Gwangju’s “Yerak,” and Seoul’s “Like Cat Crew.”

A special highlight of the festival will be the “Sports Star Talk Concert,” held each evening:

• ●Mountaineer Um Hong-gil (October 21)

• ●Paralympic cyclist Lee Do-yeon (October 22)

• ●Former baseball player Kim Byung-hyun (October 23)

In addition, performances by singers Jung Hong-il and Halim, and rock band Crying Nut will heat up the festival nights.

Special Program: “Passion Wave”

From October 17 to 19, the special program “Passion Wave” will unfold at the outdoor plaza of Sajik Stadium.

The program will feature a street dance (breaking) competition, newly adopted as an official event in the 2025 National Sports Festival, along with K-pop dance contests and solo performance competitions.

Busan expects this event to further boost citizens’ interest and participation in the National Sports Festival.

During the same period, the side program “Play Wave” will also take place, offering fun experiences for the whole family — including games against AI robots in omok (five-in-a-row), a cotton candy bicycle, and ESG cheering tool-making workshops.

Linked Program: “Art Village Heung Festival”

As part of a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism public project, the “Art Village Heung Festival” will be held on October 21 and 22 at the Busan Cinema Center and Busan Concert Hall as a linked event.

This festival, where artists and athletes come together, will feature relay concerts, street (busking) performances, and arts experience programs.

Particularly noteworthy will be a special lecture by former baseball player Lee Dae-ho titled “Art and Sports Are One.”

Safety and Operations

Busan Metropolitan City plans to operate an on-site general control center and deploy sufficient safety personnel throughout the festival period to ensure thorough safety management.
