Busan Metropolitan City to Distribute Additional Tickets On-site on the Day of the Ceremony

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will distribute remaining tickets for the Opening Ceremony of the 106th National Sports Festival, which will take place at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on October 17, on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue, limited to two tickets per person.

Since September 30, tickets have been distributed free of charge at 16 district and county offices and community service centers across the city. Most outlets have already run out of tickets, demonstrating citizens’ high expectations for the National Sports Festival, which is being hosted in Busan for the first time in 25 years.

Under the theme “The Ship Arrives, Busan!”, the 106th National Sports Festival Opening Ceremony, directed by world-renowned producers, will unfold in grand style. As the event draws near, competition among citizens to secure tickets is intensifying.

Citizens who were unable to obtain tickets in advance will need to collect remaining tickets on the day of the event to gain entry.
Given the expected congestion at the venue, the city encourages early arrival and the use of public transportation.

The Opening Ceremony will feature the direction of Park Kal-lin, one of Korea’s most celebrated stage directors; Laurent, a technical director from Cirque du Soleil; and leading performers such as musical actor Choi Jae-rim—raising great anticipation for the show.

On a large stage inspired by the “container,” symbolizing Busan’s growth and dynamism, a variety of musical performances centered on the theme of “Busan” will be presented.

Amid citizens’ enthusiastic interest, the city is devoting all efforts in the final stages of preparation to deliver a high-quality event that will provide a festival atmosphere where all generations can participate and relate.

Son Tae-wook, Director General of the City’s Sports Bureau, stated,
“The rapid sellout of tickets reflects citizens’ excitement and support for the National Sports Festival. We will ensure a safe and high-quality performance to repay their enthusiasm and will make every effort so that more citizens can join through on-site distribution on the day of the opening ceremony.”
