Replacement of Disaster Prevention Power Supply Equipment to Restrict Traffic in Gudeok Tunnel

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that traffic will be restricted in Gudeok Tunnel—from Seodaesin-dong in Seo-gu to Hakjang-dong in Sasang-gu—from October 10 to November 3 due to replacement work on the disaster prevention power supply facilities.

This construction project involves replacing the aged disaster prevention power supply system in Gudeok Tunnel. The purpose is to ensure stable electricity supply to disaster prevention equipment in the event of a fire or other emergency, thereby preventing potential loss of life and property. The project will be carried out by Bit L&D Co., Ltd.

<Construction Overview> - (Project Name) Replacement of Aged Disaster Prevention Power Supply Facilities in Gudeok Tunnel - (Location) Gudeok Tunnel (Seodaesin-dong, Seo-gu – Hakjang-dong, Sasang-gu) - (Scope) Replacement of disaster prevention power supply equipment, installation of electrical and lighting conduits, wiring work, etc. - (Period) July 29, 2025 – January 14, 2026 (entire construction period; only part of this period requires traffic control)

The traffic restriction will avoid peak commuting hours and take place nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next morning, with the final lifting of restrictions scheduled for 5:00 a.m. on November 3.

During this period, one of the two lanes in each direction will be alternately closed, while the remaining lane will remain open for public use to minimize inconvenience for drivers.

Min Soon-gi, Director General of the Urban Space Planning Bureau, stated,
“We will complete the construction safely and swiftly to minimize inconvenience and shorten the traffic control period,” and added,
“We ask for the active cooperation and understanding of all citizens.”
