Busan Metropolitan City to Distribute Opening Ceremony Tickets for the 106th National Sports Festival from September 30!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that tickets for the opening ceremony of the 106th National Sports Festival, to be held in Busan starting October 17, will be distributed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis beginning today (September 30).

Tickets can be obtained regardless of resident registration address at 16 district and county offices and local administrative welfare centers throughout Busan. Each person may receive up to two tickets. On the day of the event, only those holding tickets will be admitted and allowed to view the ceremony.

The opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival will be held at 6:00 p.m. on October 17 at Busan Asiad Main Stadium. This ceremony is designed not merely as a sports event but as a large-scale cultural festival encompassing Busan’s identity and future vision.

Under the theme “Ships Arriving, Busan!”, the program will feature an omnibus-style musical performance that encapsulates the history and culture of Busan, along with official events such as the lighting of the torch.

In particular, General Director Park Kalin will create a stage utilizing containers, a symbol of Busan, to showcase diverse performances representing the city’s history, culture, and vision for the future.

The main performance will feature musical actor Choi Jae-rim as the stage director (Ring Master). The celebratory performances will include the band Daybreak and singer Kim Tae-woo, providing a festival atmosphere for both athletes and spectators.

Son Tae-uk, Director General of the Busan Sports Bureau, stated, “The opening ceremony of the 106th National Sports Festival will be a stage of harmony and inspiration that Busan Metropolitan City has prepared with great care. We expect it to be a festival where everyone can enjoy together and feel a sense of pride. We ask for the enthusiastic interest and participation of citizens.”
