Busan Metropolitan City Inspects Final Preparations for the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games… Full-Scale Efforts as “One Team”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that today (23rd) it will hold the 4th Preparation Briefing Session (hereinafter referred to as the “Briefing”) at Busan Asiad Main Stadium for the successful hosting of the 106th National Sports Festival and the 45th National Para Games in 2025.

In October, these events will return to Busan for the first time in 25 years. In preparation, the City is mobilizing all resources from the Office of Education, the military, the police, district and county offices, and related organizations, joining forces with a “One Team” spirit to ensure thorough readiness until the very last moment.

The Briefing, held just 24 days before the opening, serves as the final inspection meeting. Attendees include Mayor Park Heong-joon, the Chief of Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, heads of districts and counties, representatives from the Busan Tourism Organization, the Busan Cultural Foundation, the Office of Education, the 53rd Division, the Busan Sports Council, and about 40 key officials from related institutions. They will review the final stages of preparation and discuss cooperative measures.

Prior to the meeting, beginning at 9:00 a.m., Mayor Park will conduct on-site inspections of newly constructed and key sports venues to confirm readiness and address any necessary improvements.

• ●[Climbing stadium inspection] The final readiness of the newly constructed climbing venue will be checked to ensure smooth competition operations.

• ●[Asiad Main Stadium renovation inspection] Progress on the renovation of the stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies and major competitions will be held, will be reviewed, with close attention to facility safety and spectator convenience.

• ●[Transportation, safety, and traffic measures inspection] Comprehensive inspections will be conducted on athlete transportation, traffic management, and spectator safety measures, while establishing systematic operational plans in cooperation with related agencies.

• ●[Encouragement of athletes] After the on-site inspection, Mayor Park will visit the Busan Athletics Federation athletes training on the Asiad Main Stadium track to deliver words of encouragement and pledge continued support so they can perform at their best.

Following the inspection, the final Preparation Briefing Session will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Asiad Main Stadium reception hall, which will serve as the VIP lounge on the day of the opening ceremony. This meeting aims to comprehensively examine the overall preparation status, discuss remaining tasks, and strengthen cooperation among relevant organizations.

• ●[Comprehensive preparation report] Son Tae-wook, Director General of the City’s Sports Bureau, will report on key areas including stadium readiness, welcoming of spectators and athletes, safety, transportation, and logistics measures.

• ●[Opening and closing ceremony briefing] Executive Director Park Calin, in charge of directing the ceremonies, will attend in person to provide a detailed briefing on ceremony operations, programs, themes, major events, and final inspection items.

• ●[Discussion among heads of institutions] As the final agenda, leaders of participating organizations will discuss key issues and remaining tasks, and agree on cooperative measures to ensure successful hosting of the events.

The City selected the Asiad Main Stadium as the venue for this final Briefing in order to replicate the actual atmosphere of the opening ceremony, test operational procedures under real conditions, and establish countermeasures for unexpected situations.

Concluding the meeting, Mayor Park Heong-joon will stress, “The National Sports Festival returning to Busan after 25 years is more than just a sporting event. It is a golden opportunity to showcase Busan’s capabilities and appeal to the nation and the world, elevating the dignity of our city.” He will add, “Until the very end, we will commit to delivering a successful festival that inspires pride and emotion for all citizens.”

In addition, he will call on citizens for continued interest and support, saying, “The active participation and warm cooperation of our citizens will be the driving force behind the success of these events.”
