Busan Metropolitan City to Host the “Second Half 2025 Social Economy Public Procurement Fair”… Expanding Sales Channels and Promoting Awareness of Preferential Purchasing

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the “2025 Second Half Busan Social Economy Public Procurement Fair” at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (September 24) in the first-floor auditorium and lobby of City Hall.

Social economy refers to all economic activities carried out to realize common interests and social values such as reducing polarization and creating jobs. Social economy enterprises include preliminary social enterprises, (social) cooperatives, village enterprises, and self-support enterprises.

This event was organized to expand sales channels for local social economy enterprises and to raise awareness among public institutions of the importance of preferential purchasing of their products. Starting this year, the event has been expanded to be held twice annually—in the first and second halves of the year—in order to provide more participation opportunities for Busan-based social economy enterprises and to strengthen their promotional efforts.

At the first-half event (June 10, 2025), 43 public institutions and 42 social economy enterprises participated, resulting in 179 consultations and product sales amounting to KRW 19.16 million.

The second-half event will feature 32 social economy enterprises, along with procurement officers from the city government, districts and counties, public corporations, and funded or commissioned institutions. The event will include a public procurement briefing session, product exhibitions, and a marketplace.

The public procurement briefing session will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium, targeting procurement officers from public institutions. The session will provide guidance on the social economy and public procurement system.

The product exhibition and marketplace will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall lobby, with participation from 32 enterprises showcasing a variety of products such as food, household goods, and souvenirs.

Through this event, the city expects to provide citizens with opportunities to purchase high-quality products from social economy enterprises, to offer those enterprises increased opportunities for promotion and sales, and to encourage public institutions to deepen their understanding of social economy products and strengthen their recognition of the importance of preferential purchasing.

Kim Bong-cheol, Assistant Mayor of the Digital Economy Office, stated, “This event has been organized to raise interest in the social economy among citizens and public institutions, and to expand sales channels for Busan’s social economy enterprises. We kindly ask for the active interest and participation of our citizens, and Busan Metropolitan City will continue to make efforts to strengthen the self-reliance of social economy enterprises and to expand their sales channels.”
