Recruitment of Members for the “Future Busan Design Group” – Driving Force Behind World Design Capital 2028 Busan!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that, in line with Busan’s designation as the World Design Capital (WDC) 2028, it will recruit members for the first round of the “Future Busan Design Group” from today (September 22) until October 10 to realize the citizen-centered vision of the World Design Capital.

The “Future Busan Design Group” is a citizen participation initiative that represents an innovative and creative community built together with citizens. It aims to promote sustainable urban development and expand design culture. The group will consist of 250 citizens interested in the following five areas: ▲Kids Design Lab ▲Young Wave Design Group ▲Universal Design Group ▲Senior Design Group ▲World Design Capital (WDC) Promotion Group.

The first round of the “Future Busan Design Group” will launch this fall, and its activities will continue until December 2026, including proposing design-related policies and programs. Members will also engage in ▲policy and program proposals related to design ▲participation in design campaigns ▲online and offline promotion of “World Design Capital 2028 Busan.”

Selected participants will receive various benefits such as ▲a certificate of appointment ▲priority participation in design capacity-building training and workshops ▲awards for outstanding contributions.

Busan Metropolitan City will review the policies and programs proposed by the “Future Busan Design Group” and reflect them in future projects, while also utilizing the group as a communication platform for citizen participation.

Any Korean citizen who has an interest in World Design Capital 2028 Busan and affection for the city may apply. Applications can be submitted through the city’s official website (busan.go.kr/minwon/occation > Citizen Participation > Events/Recruitment).

The results of the selection process will be individually notified via text message in October.
