Busan Metropolitan City to Host the 4th “Busan Data Week 2025” … Exploring the Future of the Data Industry

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the 4th “Busan Data Week (BUSAN DATA WEEK) 2025” at BEXCO over two days from September 22 to 23.

This year’s event, under the theme “Technological Changes Driven by Data and Tangible Value for Citizens,” will invite leading domestic experts in digital transformation and data to share the latest technology trends and discuss the future direction of the regional data industry through presentations on successful digital transformation cases and best practices.

On the first day (September 22), following the opening ceremony, Cho Yong-min, Chief Investment Officer of Unbound Lab Dev, will deliver the opening keynote lecture on “The Data Utilization Recipes of High-Performing People.” A total of 11 presentations organized into four sessions will then be held over the two days.

– Session 1: Data × Core Technologies (Trends and Future Directions)
Presentations will be given by Park Tae-woong, Chair of Noxer Forum; Kim Jun-ho, Head of Data Biz at Shinhan Card; and Kim Jung-yeop, CEO of Ilju GNS Co., Ltd., on the future directions of core data technologies.

– Session 2: Data × Core Technologies (Industry Use Cases and Value Creation)
Speakers include Kim Byung-jun, Director at AWS Korea; Son Byung-hee, Director of the Mind AI Research Institute; and Professor Bae Hye-rim of Pusan National University, who will share industry-specific adoption cases and methods for value creation.

On the second day (September 23), author Song Gil-young will deliver the keynote lecture on “How to Become a Human Who Survives in the Era of Big Data.”

– Session 3: Data Literacy (Ethics, Education, HR)
Presentations will be given by Lee Sun-pyo, Executive Director of SNP Lab; Professor Jang Won-cheol of Seoul National University; and Kim Jung-gil, Director at Saramin Co., Ltd., covering the utilization of data in ethics, education, and human resource management.

– Session 4: Data Governance (Awareness, Utilization, Sharing)
Professor Cho Nam-jae of Hanyang University will present strategies for data-driven organizational management, and Kim Hyun-sun, Director of the Big Data Division of Busan Metropolitan City, will present on the evolution of Busan’s data administrative policies and future plans.

Also on the second day, companies participating in the Busan Big Data Innovation Center projects, such as Hustlers and LinksUp, will showcase best practices, while the city will share the achievements of projects such as the “2025 SME Big Data Analysis and Utilization Support Program,” which fostered the regional data ecosystem.

As side events, a poster contest on outstanding cases of data utilization and exhibition booths promoting data companies in the Busan area will be held across both days, along with data consulting services.

– In the poster contest, 30 teams will present their cases in poster format, which will be exhibited and evaluated, with awards announced at the closing session.
– The exhibition booths will showcase the products and solutions of data-utilizing companies engaged in digital transformation (DX) within and beyond Busan. Consulting services will be provided on-site by specialized institutions and firms, covering topics such as data and artificial intelligence (AI) utilization and smart factory implementation.

The event is open to anyone interested in data, including professionals in the data and digital transformation fields as well as citizens, who may register on-site during the event period.
