“2025 Busan Pet-tro Festival” to be Held… Promoting a Specialized Pet Street and Expanding Pet Culture

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2025 Busan Pet-tro Festival” on September 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Pet Station (the underground shopping mall between Suyeong Station and Gwangan Station on Metro Line 2) to activate the “Specialized Pet Street.”

The event is hosted by Pet Station Co., Ltd. and sponsored by the City.

The venue, Pet Station (the underground shopping mall between Suyeong Station and Gwangan Station), extends 200 meters in length, making it the nation’s longest integrated pet culture and shopping space. Since its opening in November last year, more than 40 businesses—including animal hospitals, hotels and cafés, grooming salons, and pet food and supply shops—have opened and are operating there. The space has established itself as an urban healing area where citizens can walk their pets regardless of weather conditions.

The “2025 Busan Pet-tro Festival” has been organized to enhance awareness of pets and expand a culture in which citizens and their pets can participate together. The festival will offer a wide range of support programs and cultural events tailored to both pets and their owners.

From September 1 to 20, a pre-event campaign was held, which included support for pet microchip registration and health check-ups. On the day of the festival, pre-registered participants will be offered additional microchip registration and health check-up support, as well as free hygienic grooming services.

The main event will open at 10:00 a.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by:
– A talk show and Q&A session with veterinarian Seol Chae-hyun
– A “Pet Pride Time” session for sharing pet stories
– An OX Golden Bell quiz with prizes
– Story-sharing and prize draws for participants

In particular, on the day of the festival, all products sold by shops in the Specialized Pet Street will be offered at a 50% discount, providing substantial benefits to pet owners.

The City plans to pursue various support measures to further activate this “Specialized Pet Street.” Beginning with support for this year’s event, plans include establishing an animal adoption center and attracting startups and related businesses, ultimately transforming the area into a new local lifestyle and tourism resource frequented by both pet owners and general citizens.
