Busan Metropolitan City Holds Volunteer Launch Ceremony for the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games – Affirming Commitment to a Successful Event

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan Volunteer Center (Director Park Kyung-ok) announced that today (September 17) at 2:00 p.m. at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, they held the “2025 National Sports Festival and the National Para Games Volunteer Launch Ceremony,” reaffirming their commitment to the successful hosting of the festival.

The event brought together more than 2,500 volunteers selected from across Busan, along with officials, citizens, and distinguished guests including Mayor Park Heong-joon, City Council Chair Ahn Sung-min, and Superintendent of Education Kim Suk-joon, who encouraged and congratulated the volunteers.

Volunteers will be assigned across various areas during the festival, including the general operations headquarters, opening and closing ceremonies, competition management, and venue guidance, ensuring safe operations and participant convenience.

The launch ceremony proceeded with the entry of the flag-bearing team, the opening declaration, the recital of the pledge, and a celebratory performance. In addition, a giant ball-rolling performance under the theme “Rolling Hope Together, Gathering Messages as One” was held. Volunteers rolled seven large balls from the audience toward the stage, where, upon contact with the distinguished guests, the slogan “2025 Busan Volunteer Together for a Successful Festival” was revealed, delivering a symbolic message that unity creates success.

Furthermore, a V Festival experience zone (booths) was operated, providing participants with diverse opportunities to engage and enjoy. The V Festival featured 30 different spaces, including a Volunteer Bank points market, volunteer experience zones, and commemorative photo zones, offering participants enjoyable activities while reflecting on the meaning and value of volunteerism.

Through this launch ceremony, the city reaffirmed its plan to ensure volunteers warmly welcome both athletes and citizens during the festival, supporting a safe and vibrant event with thorough preparation.

Park Kyung-ok, Director of the Busan Volunteer Center, stated, “This event marks the starting point for achieving success in a festival that is drawing national attention beyond Busan. Through this citizen-participated launch ceremony, we hope to share the true meaning of volunteerism and expand it into a greater sense of community value.”

Mayor Park Heong-joon added, “You, the volunteers, are the unsung heroes of the successful hosting of the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games and the face of Busan’s dignity.
