Busan Metropolitan City Launches “Expert Advisory Panel for Sajik Baseball Stadium Reconstruction” to Enhance Speed and Quality

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that, to ensure the successful implementation of the Sajik Baseball Stadium Reconstruction Project, it will hold the inaugural meeting and appointment ceremony for the “Expert Advisory Panel for Sajik Baseball Stadium Reconstruction” on September 12 at 3:30 PM in Small Conference Room 2 on the 12th floor of City Hall.

The expert advisory panel will be responsible for providing professional consultation and review from the planning stage through to completion of the project. Its tasks will include technical advice on project planning, design, and construction; gathering citizen feedback; and reviewing administrative procedures.

The panel will be composed of 17 experts from various fields, including sports, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), the Lotte Giants, architecture, urban planning, and members of the city council.

Through the operation of the advisory panel, the city expects to strengthen transparency and expertise in the project, minimize trial and error based on expert consultation, and thereby promote the project more quickly and efficiently. Regular meetings will be held twice a year, and additional meetings may be convened as needed to promptly discuss major issues.

Furthermore, the city plans to reflect the panel’s opinions in future project planning, as well as in the design and construction processes, to enhance the policy and technical completeness of the project.

In addition, the city is actively seeking additional funding sources to reduce the financial burden on local government. In July, it applied for the “Public Sports Facility Renovation Support Project,” organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and if selected, the project will receive national funding. The final results are expected to be announced in October.

Son Tae-uk, Director General of Sports Bureau of the city, stated, “Sajik Baseball Stadium is a symbolic landmark representing Busan. This reconstruction project will go beyond a simple facility improvement to become a future asset where sports, culture, and industry converge. Together with the expert advisory panel, we will create a safe, efficient, and citizen-friendly world-class baseball stadium.”
