Leap Toward Becoming a Global Hub City… Busan Metropolitan City Holds a “Municipal Affairs Briefing Session” in Sejong After the Launch of the New Government

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that today (11th) at 6:40 p.m. it will hold the “Municipal Affairs Briefing Session for Officials of the Sejong Government Complex” at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Sejong.

The “Municipal Affairs Briefing Session for Officials of the Sejong Government Complex” is held annually in Sejong to promote the city’s major policy issues and strengthen the cooperative network between Busan and central government ministries.

This year, in particular, the session has been prepared to directly present the city’s vision and key policy issues following the launch of the new government and to request cooperation.

The event will be attended by the Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs, senior city executives, and about 120 central government officials.

This briefing session will begin with a welcome speech by the Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs, followed by ▲screening of a promotional video on municipal affairs ▲presentation on key policy issues ▲Suggestions for Busan ▲Municipal Policy Quiz.

The promotional video, under the theme “Expanded, Elevated, Resolved,” introduces the ongoing transformation of Busan and presents the city’s future changes toward becoming a city people would want to live in even if born again.

Subsequently, the city will explain the “Global Maritime Hub City Busan Vision,” which seeks to establish Busan as a center of innovation in the southern region and open a new era as Korea’s logistics, financial, and cultural hub. The presentation will also highlight major policy initiatives to realize this vision, including ▲the timely opening of Gadeokdo New Airport ▲the establishment of the next-generation Busan-type express rail system (BuTX) ▲the enactment of the Busan Global Hub City Special Act ▲the relocation of the Korea Development Bank to Busan ▲the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and will call for active interest and support at the central government level.

In the “Suggestions for Busan” segment, participating central government officials will share their thoughts on Busan and present ideas that could help improve municipal administration.

Toward the end of the event, a “Municipal Policy Quiz” with the city’s communication character Boogi will provide an easy and enjoyable opportunity to learn more about Busan, further strengthening communication with central ministries.
