Busan Metropolitan City to Host “2025 U-BDIA Festival” to Foster AI and Software Talent

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the “2025 U-BDIA AI·SW Festival” at BEXCO Convention Hall 1 and 2 on September 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The event is organized by the city and co-hosted by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, Dong-Eui University, Dong-A University, Korea Maritime & Ocean University, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Pusan National University, Pukyong National University, Dongseo University, and Busan Software Meister High School.

The Busan Digital Innovation Academy (BDIA), launched in 2022, is a five-year educational support project (2022–2026) led by the city, designed to train 10,000 highly skilled professionals in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and connect them with employment opportunities.

This year’s festival is a comprehensive event aimed at sharing the latest trends in artificial intelligence and software, while strengthening participants’ employment capabilities. Beyond a simple gathering, it is expected to become a meaningful venue for fostering AI and software talent and promoting the growth of related industries.

The festival will welcome around 800 participants, including BDIA trainees, job seekers, and university students.

The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m., followed by programs such as the BDIA Community, professional counseling, technology-sharing sessions, and university-led programs.

At the “BDIA Community,” alumni who secured employment at renowned companies after graduation will share their experiences and provide practical advice to job seekers through Q&A sessions.

The “Professional Counseling Booth” will offer one-on-one consultations with ICT industry professionals, providing insights into job roles and the necessary skills for success. These sessions will be open not only to BDIA graduates but also to all job seekers in the ICT sector.

The “University Programs” will feature participation from seven universities* and Busan Software Meister High School, including technology-sharing forums, seminars, intergenerational AI and software competitions, and presentations on global software competency programs.

Additionally, the event will host a variety of activities such as an ICT quiz competition (“ICT Golden Bell”), a coding test championship, side project presentations, and promotional booths, with prizes also prepared for participants.

Jung Na-yeong, Director General of the Future Technology Strategy Bureau of the city, stated, “Through this festival, local university students and job seekers will gain insights into the latest information technology trends, while young talents leading the AI and software era will be able to network and grow together. We will continue to provide strong support so that participants can build a foundation for becoming future digital leaders, while also positioning Busan as a leading city in digital innovation.”
