Classic Busan Presents “HELLO Organ” and a Concert by World-Renowned Master Olivier Latry

Busan Metropolitan City announced that Classic Busan will present a special stage that brings together the full charm of the pipe organ at the Busan Concert Hall on September 9 and 10.

This performance is designed to provide both first-time audiences and seasoned enthusiasts with opportunities to enjoy organ music in comfort, while also offering a rare chance to meet a world-renowned organist.

On September 9 at 11:00 a.m., the program begins with the introductory commentary concert “HELLO Organ,” under the subtitle “The Resonance of Stories, the Gift of the Organ.”

Korea’s top-level organist Park Jun-ho will lead the performance and commentary, joined by bestselling author and gifted storyteller Kim Young-ha. Together, they will present a fresh format combining literature and music, offering a friendly introduction to the world of organ music.

On September 10 at 7:30 p.m., Olivier Latry, titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and one of the greatest living masters, will take the stage at Busan Concert Hall.

Appointed principal organist of Notre-Dame at the age of 23, Latry has been hailed as one of the foremost organists of the 21st century, praised for his dazzling technique, poetic interpretations, and exceptional improvisational skills.

This recital program will feature works spanning different eras, including masterpieces by French Romantic giant Charles-Marie Widor, 20th-century French organ master Maurice Duruflé, and Johann Sebastian Bach, the essence of organ music.

Together, the two concerts will encompass the journey from first encounters with the organ to its artistic summit, offering audiences opportunities to appreciate the instrument across genres and generations. The performances are expected to deliver a dramatic experience of the organ’s structural grandeur and tonal richness.

In particular, the project is designed not merely to present two concerts in succession, but to create a comprehensive spectrum of organ music. Audiences will first be introduced to the instrument’s charm through the introductory commentary concert, then be guided to its pinnacle through a performance by a world-class master. This progression offers a unique opportunity for multi-layered understanding and appreciation of the organ.
