Busan Metropolitan City and Busan I’Park Host “D-50 Commemorative Promotion Event for the National Sports Festival”

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that on September 6 at 7 p.m., the city will host the “D-50 Commemorative Promotion Event for the 2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games in Busan” at Gudeok Stadium, in conjunction with the official K League 2 match between Busan I’Park and Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

This event has been prepared to widely promote the National Sports Festival, which will be held in Busan for the first time in 25 years, and to build momentum for its successful hosting.

The D-50 commemorative event will be carried out in collaboration with the Busan I’Park club, featuring a wide range of programs that professional sports fans and citizens can enjoy together.

▲ A ceremonial kickoff before the match will herald the start of the National Sports Festival, while an on-site promotion booth will provide information about the Games in a citizen-friendly manner. In addition, the official mascot of the National Sports Festival, “Boogi,” will be installed as an air bounce to entertain spectators and serve as a photo zone.
▲ Promotional videos for the National Sports Festival will be screened on the LED scoreboard and advertising boards inside the stadium to vividly convey the excitement of the Games to spectators. Promotion will also extend to Busan I’Park’s official website and social media channels.

At the ceremonial kickoff, weightlifting star Kim Su-hyeon—who won three gold medals at the 2024 Gyeongnam National Sports Festival—will take the field to wish for the successful hosting of the event and to boost the pride of Busan’s sports community.

During halftime, singer Soon Soon-hee, invited by the Busan I’Park club, will deliver a celebratory performance to offer the audience a special moment of enjoyment.

In addition, promotional leaflets and materials will be distributed on-site to broadly publicize the significance and preparations of the National Sports Festival to citizens.

Meanwhile, the 106th National Sports Festival, which will return to Busan for the first time in 25 years, will be held from October 17 to 23, with about 17,000 athletes from 23 provinces and cities across Korea, as well as overseas Koreans, competing in 50 events. The National Para Games will follow from October 31 to November 6, with about 10,000 athletes competing in 31 events.

Son Tae-uk, Director General of the City’s Sports Bureau, stated, “With less than 50 days remaining until the National Sports Festival, citizens’ interest and support are more important than ever. We hope that this D-50 event, held in collaboration with professional soccer in a city that boasts four major professional sports clubs, will raise expectations for the Games and create an atmosphere of participation for all citizens.”
