Chinese Hubei Provincial Government Counselor Delegation Visits Elderly Welfare Facilities in Busan

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the Hubei Provincial Government Counselor Delegation visited Busan from August 25 to 27 for three days and two nights to deepen their understanding of the city’s elderly welfare and long-term care policies, while seeking future exchange and cooperation opportunities with the city.

The delegation, composed of six members including Zhou Xianqi, former Director General of the Hubei Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, participated in the Korea-China Exchange Seminar hosted by Kosin University during their stay, and visited caregiver training institutions and nursing facilities, as well as observed various programs.

This visit follows the delegation led by Wang Ercheng, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of the Social and Legal Affairs Committee, who, along with officials from the Consulate General of China in Busan, visited the Geumjeong branch of the Our Neighborhood ESG Center in October 2024 to explore the creation of sustainable and eco-friendly elderly jobs.

On August 27, the delegation visited Hyoseong Senior Health Center in Gijang-gun, where Facility Director Choi O-seok provided a briefing on the current status of long-term care institution operations and Busan Metropolitan City’s policies on elderly welfare and long-term care.

During the on-site meeting, the two sides actively exchanged questions and answers regarding elderly welfare policies and systems in Korea and China.

The delegation, including former Director General Zhou Xianqi, praised Busan’s elderly care services and nursing facility management system as highly systematic and advanced, expressing their intention to further strengthen cooperation with Busan for the future development of elderly welfare policies in Hubei Province.

Social Welfare Bureau Director General Jung Tae-gi of Busan Metropolitan City remarked that this visit was a meaningful occasion to reaffirm mutual understanding and cooperation between Korea and China in the field of elderly welfare. He added that Busan will continue to promote its excellent elderly welfare policies, expand its global cooperation base, and actively engage in policy exchanges with various countries in the elderly welfare sector.
