Commemoration of Reading Month 2025: Special Event for New Members – Issuance of the Boogi Library Card

Busan Metropolitan City Library announced that, to mark Reading Month in September, it will hold a special event (hereinafter referred to as the “Event”) in which new members can receive the Boogi Library Card at public libraries across 16 gu.gun in Busan beginning September 16.

This Event has been prepared to promote greater use of libraries by Busan citizens and to advance reading culture. When citizens register as new library members, they will be provided with a library card featuring the “Boogi” character design, supporting a friendlier and more enjoyable reading experience.

The “Boogi Library Card” is a special limited-edition card featuring Boogi, Busan’s beloved mascot, and is available for use by people of all ages, from children to adults.

The Boogi Library Card goes beyond the function of a standard membership card, serving as a symbolic item that helps all citizens feel more closely connected to libraries and reading. The Event is expected to become a meaningful occasion for experiencing the joy of reading and the value of libraries.

All 16 gu.gun public libraries in Busan will participate in the Event. Detailed information such as membership registration methods, the number of cards distributed, and distribution schedules can be obtained by contacting each library directly.

The Event will run for one month in September 2025. When visiting a library, new members who register will immediately receive the Boogi Library Card and can use it right away to borrow books and access other library services.

Each gu.gun library will distribute a different number of Boogi Library Cards, all on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens are encouraged to check with their local libraries regarding availability and issuance.

Park Eun-a, Director of Busan Metropolitan City Library, stated, “The Boogi Library Card will serve as a wonderful opportunity for all Busan citizens to easily access reading and libraries,” adding, “We will continue to develop diverse library services that embody the unique character of the Busan region.”
