Busan Metropolitan Library to Host Diverse Events for September’s “Month of Reading”

Busan Metropolitan Library (hereinafter referred to as “the Library”) announced that it will host a variety of reading and cultural events in September to spark citizens’ interest in reading, encourage communication through books, and provide opportunities to share joy.

This year’s program, running throughout September, includes the “Book Play Festival,” author lectures, themed special lectures, themed exhibitions, and commemorative events.

In particular, the Library has arranged meaningful literary gatherings with three authors: Kim Tak-hwan, Hong In-hye, and Kim Hae-sol.

On September 17 at 19:00, novelist Kim Tak-hwan, author of It Was Wonderful, 2024, a novel inspired by the life of renowned artist Lee Jung-seop, will deliver an in-depth lecture crossing literature and art, followed by a book talk.

On September 20 at 14:00, poet, copywriter, and webtoon author Hong In-hye will give a career and humanities lecture for teenagers under the theme “Sentences That Kept Me Alive.”

On September 26 at 14:00, Kim Hae-sol, winner of the Grand Prize at the 12th Kyobo Book Centre Story Contest for her work The Juniper Tree, will lecture on “How to Write My Own Story” and “The Secret to Discovering Extraordinary Stories in Everyday Life.”

Additionally, on September 27 from 13:00 to 17:00, the Library will host the “Book Play Festival” at its outdoor square, Plaza of Wisdom. The festival will feature diverse programs for all ages, including the Book Play Creative Playground (experience booths), a clown balloon art workshop (with balloon gifts), the Plaza of Wisdom, and the One-Pyeong Library (outdoor reading zone).

The “Book Play Festival” is open to all citizens, and on-site registration for the experience booths will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 12:30 on the day of the event.

Other activities include Wednesday audiobook screenings, themed special lectures for different age groups, and themed exhibitions.
