International Market Dottegi Street Festa to Boost Traditional Market Consumption

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “International Market Dottegi Street Festa” will be held for three days from August 28 to 30 at International Market, Manmul Street, and Arirang Street.

This event has been organized to revitalize traditional markets struggling with economic downturns and reduced consumption. It is designed as a customized consumption promotion program that combines “the fun of watching” with “the joy of shopping.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the charm of traditional markets at reasonable prices, while merchants will benefit from increased sales. In particular, foreign tourists can look forward to experiencing Busan’s unique traditional market culture and vitality firsthand.

In addition to discounts, the event will feature a special nighttime “food stall zone” where visitors can enjoy cold beer. Attractions will include street performances (busking), concerts by invited singers, cooking shows, and free tasting corners, offering delight for both eyes and palate. Retro-style photo spots and stamp tours will also be available as participatory events, expected to attract interest from younger visitors and international tourists.

Benefits of the Dottegi Street Festa

• ●Discount coupons: Up to KRW 10,000 discount coupons will be distributed daily at on-site booths during the festival. Coupons can be used at participating stores with purchases over KRW 15,000.

• ●Roulette prize event: Visitors with receipts of purchases over KRW 15,000 can participate. A total of 20 prizes, including a first-prize iPhone (lottery), will be offered.

• ●Night food stall operation and free beer coupons: With purchases of KRW 10,000 or more at market stalls or five food trucks within the venue, visitors will receive one free beer at the food stall zone.

A particularly unique event, “Meet Without Stairs,” will also take place at the International Market. Stores usually located on the second floor with limited accessibility will move down to the first-floor alleyways to open temporary stalls.
